Driver backs car into Jeep that crashes into store
BUTLER TOWNSHIP — No one was injured when an 84-year-old woman caused a chain-reaction collision that sent a Jeep crashing into a township business about 1 p.m. Friday.
Witnesses said the woman, who lives just blocks from the plaza at 203 S. Duffy Road, had gotten her hair done at one business, then attempted to go to another that was closed. She was backing out to leave when her car hit a parked Jeep that, in turn crashed through a wooden support beam and picture window at Swift Audiology & Hearing Aid Service.
According to witnesses, the woman who owned the Jeep had parked it minutes earlier and was not in it at the time of the collision. Inside the business, no employees or customers were standing in the entry when the collision happened.
An employee of the business said, “We were all pretty shaken up when it happened, but thankfully no one was hurt.”
The car was driven from the scene by a member of the woman's family.
Butler Township police said a report would be issued later.
