SRU baseball win streak snapped

SLIPPERY ROCK — After winning the first game of a doubleheader Friday, Slippery Rock University’s baseball team saw its 11-game win streak ended by Indiana (Pa.) at Critchfield Park.

The 22nd-ranked Rock (11-1) won the first game, 10-6, before dropping an 8-3 decision in the nightcap.

Abraham Mow belted a pair of home runs for SRU and scored three runs. He moved into a tie for sixth place with Matt Adams on The Rock’s all-time home run list with 27.

Luke Trueman contributed a home run, double, single and four RBI on the day. Connor Hamilton had three hits, including his team-leading sixth home run. Eddie Morris and Alex Robenolt homered for SRU as well.

Seneca Valley graduate Anthony Cinicola hit his first collegiate home run in the first game.The Rock hammered five homers during that contest. Devin Dunn (4-0) was the winning pitcher despite having his scoreless inning streak snapped at 21.2. He struck out five and allowed one earned run in five innings.

Slippery Rock High graduate Ricky Mineo took the loss in the second game. He allowed five runs on six hits despite striking out seven in 4.1 innings. Butler graduate Colby Anderson threw 1.1 scoreless innings in the nightcap.

The Rock and IUP are scheduled to conclude their four-game series with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday at Indiana.
