No one hurt in house fire

CENTER TWP — A house fire that broke out before 6:30 p.m. Thursday required firefighters from at least eight fire departments.

The fire happened at 604 West Sunbury Road at a home owned by Paul and Irene Kiser, who both got out of the home uninjured.

Carol Kiser, daughter-in-law of the two, said her family was not able to talk but that the two had lived at the home for 65 years. Before that, the home was a one-room schoolhouse, Carol Kiser said.

By 7 p.m., the home was fully engulfed in flames, according to Carol Kiser.

The Unionville Volunteer Fire Department was assisted by the Onieda Valley, Lick Hill, West Sunbury, Prospect, Chicora, Slippery Rock and East Butler fire departments.

Crews were still on scene as of 9 p.m.
