SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University junior shortstop Kailey Myers has been named PSAC West Softball Player of the Year.
Myers hit .419 on the season with eight homers, 39 RBI and 22 runs scored.
SRU catcher Lauren Hawley, outfielder Emily Nagle and Megan Brown as an at-large selection also made the All-PSAC West team.

PENN TWP — Butler Country Club is hosting a U.S. Open local qualifier Wednesday,
Four golfers from the 71-player field will advance to U.S. Open sectional play at one of 10 sites across the country June 4.
Among the golfers playing Wednesday will be Latrobe graduate Brady Pevarnik, grandson of the late Arnold Palmer.
The 118th U.S. Open takes place June 14-17 at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y.
[naviga:h3]Giants’ Cueto doesn’t need Tommy John[/naviga:h3]
PHILADELPHIA — San Francisco pitcher Johnny Cueto will be sidelined for six-to-eight weeks because of a strained right elbow and will not have Tommy John surgery.
The 32-year-old right-hander was examined by Dr. James Andrews on Monday in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Cueto will undertake rest and rehabilitation.
[naviga:h3]Farquhar expected to pitch again[/naviga:h3]
CHICAGO — Chicago White Sox reliever Danny Farquhar has been released from a hospital, and a doctor who treated the 31-year-old right-hander expects he will pitch again but not this season.
The White Sox said in a statement Monday that Farquhar is resting at home with his family after being discharged from Rush University Medical Center.
Farquhar collapsed in the dugout with a brain hemorrhage caused by a ruptured aneurysm during a home game.
