NEW CASTLE — Joe Boros, the golf professional at Treesdale Golf Club, won the 2012 Tri-State Senior PGA Professional Championship Qualifier, held Thursday and Friday at New Castle Country Club.
Boros fired an even par (68-74) 142 in regulation, then birdied the second hole of a sudden death playoff to seal the victory.
With the win, Boros qualifies for the 2012 Senior PGA Professional Championship, scheduled Oct. 11-14 in Leesburg, Va.
Also making the cut was Butler's John Aubrey, who tied for sixth with a (75-73) 148.
JACKSON TWP — The Seneca Valley Sports Hall of Fame will honor its seven-member Class of 2012 at halftime of the Raiders’ home football game against Pine-Richland Sept. 7.The inductees will formally be received into the Hall of Fame with a banquet and ceremony, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at the high school.This year’s inductees include Marlesse (Schlott) Hames, Jim Walsh, Ray Thompson, David Cashdollar, Janet (Wilk) Swope, John Thiebaud and David Ferianc.Tickets are $20 per person, $10 for children aged 3-12.
