Kenneth Allen “Ken” Barto
Kenneth Allen “Ken” Barto, 71, of Butler, passed away Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 23, 1946, in Butler to the late Gale R. Barto and Martha Wagner Barto.
Ken was a graduate of Butler Area High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Before retiring, Ken worked as an installer for Embarq Telephone Co. He was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church; VFW Post 249 in Butler; American Legion Post 117, where he previously served as commander; and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of New Castle.
Ken loved his family and was especially proud of his five grandchildren: Austin, Trey, Jacob, Sydney and Brody.
He is survived by his wife, Linnette Williamson Barto, whom he married on May 4, 1968; two sons, Jeffrey (Sherry) Barto and Marc (Laurie) Barto; and five grandchildren: Austin, Trey, Jacob, Sydney and Brody Barto. He is also survived by his three brothers: Richard (Denise) Barto of Charleston, S.C., Donald (Kathy) Barto of Butler, and Daniel (Lisa) Barto of Butler; one sister, Nancy Jo (Scott) Gilson of Slippery Rock; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his brother, Billie Barto; two nieces, Melissa Barto and Stacy Abraham; and one nephew, Shea Barto.
BARTO — Anyone who knew Kenneth Allen “Ken” Barto, who died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, knew him as a very private man of few words. Respecting his wishes, there will be no public viewing and a private family burial at Rose Hill Cemetery with full military honors by officers and members of American Legion Post 117 of Butler, American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora, and VFW Post 249 of Butler is being planned.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the VFW Post 249, 429 W.
