Renovated Mount Chestnut facility expands golfers' abilities to hone game

BUTLER TWP — All About Golf appears to be aptly named.

And it has become all about golf throughout the calendar.

Formerly a nine-hole golf course known as Mount Chestnut, the facility has added a 3,900-square foot extension to its building. It now offers an indoor putting area and a driving range that can be effectively used year-round.

“We've got eight bays on our driving range that are indoors now,” facility owner Wade Orloski said. “You're hitting from a covered area out into the range.

“Golfers used to have to travel to Neville Island to practice their game in the winter. That can be done right here now.”

More square feet have been added to the grassy practice area as well.

“We wanted to turn this facility into a viable place for golfers to practice their game anytime and we feel like we've done that,” Orloski said.

The new-look golf facility hosted a grand opening last week. Golf Etc. relocated its facility to the same building as the indoor bays overlooking the range as well.

The nine-hole course remains in operation, with holes adjusted over the past couple of years. Holes range in distance from 110 yards to 300.

All About Golf used to be home to a free youth golf clinic put on by the staff. That has been replaced by the national First Tee program.

More than 1,200 courses nationwide are affiliated with this program, which teaches youths ages 7-18 life lessons and leadership qualities along with the sport of golf.

It emphasizes nine core values: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment.

“We love that program because it extends lessons way beyond golf,” Orloski said.
