SR grad Hindman athlete of week
ERIE — Slippery Rock High School graduate Cheyenne Hindman, a senior first baseman at Mercyhurst University, has been named PSAC West Softball Athlete of the Week.
Hindman led the Lakers to four wins last week, hitting .556 with two doubles, two singles and a home run. She collected seven RBI as well.
Vittone key hitter in GCC victory
CRESSON — Seven Fields resident and Eden Christian graduate Luke Vittone, a freshman second baseman at Grove City College, had three hits, including a [pair of homers, in the Wolverines’ 7-6 loss at Mount Aloysius Monday.
Vittone had four RBI in the game as Grove City saw its six-game winning streak snapped. Cranberry Township resident and Eden Christian graduate Jesse Clary had two hits in the game for GCC.
SRU’s Robenolt gets PSAC West honors
SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University junior outfielder Alex Robenolt has been named PSAC West Baseball Athlete of the Week.
Robenolt was 11-for-18 in six games, scoring six runs, hitting four homers and collecting 10 RBI. He had a pair of doubles as well.
Three other Rock Athletes received PSAC honors. Trinity Clark was named PSAC West Women’s Field Athlete of the Week after winning the javelin and breaking the meet record at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge with a throw of 47.44 meters.
John Eakin was named PSAC West Male Field Athlete of the Week after winning the shot put at the Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach with a career-best throw of 17.43 meters, longest in the PSAC since 2015. Gabriela del Val del Toro was named PSAC West Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, going 2-1 in singles and doubles. She teamed with Butler graduate Teddi Isherwood in doubles.
Kiggins stops 11 in lacrosse victory
FREDONIA, N.Y. — Seneca Valley graduate and Grove City College freshman goalkeeper Elyse Kiggins made 11 saves in the Wolverines’ 10-5 women’s lacrosse victory over Fredonia State.
The save total marked a season-high for Kiggins as GCC won its sixth straight game.
