Butler Area Public Library has added the Career Transitions database to aid county residents looking for jobs.

Career Transitions helps people explore career possibilities, assess their interests and search and apply for jobs.

Access is free to county residents with a library card. Enter the library's website, www.butlerlibrary.info, click the Reference tab, and then select Career Transitions from the list of databases.

The Women's Club of Southern Butler County is selling keepsake cookbooks, with all proceeds benefiting local community organizations or funding the club's scholarships.The cookbook contains 399 recipes, including appetizers, smoothies, main dishes, desserts, quick and easy meals and pies. ADAMS TWP — Adams Township Community Day will be Sept. 12 at Adams Township Community Park.The Herb Kaufman Memorial 5K run/walk starts at 9 a.m., followed by a softball game at 11 a.m. Free food and events will run from 2 to 5 p.m. Sadecky's Puppets' production of "Castlemania" starts at 5 p.m. Freedom Flights will tether a hot-air balloon (weather permitting) at 6 p.m., and offer rides. The North Star Kids will perform at 7 p.m. The day concludes with a fireworks display.

ADAMS TWP — The Greater Cranberry Barbershop Chorus offers free vocal lessons for all men who love to sing and would like to improve their current singing abilities.Lessons will be at 7 p.m. Mondays at Mars Alliance Church on Rt. 228 between Mars and Cranberry.The instructor is Susan Nist, director of the chorus.
