2 bikers flown to hospital after motorcycle crash
SLIPPERY ROCK TWP, Lawrence County — Two New Kensington residents were taken by helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital after a motorcycle wreck involving a farm tractor at 4:19 p.m. Saturday on Route 19 between Harlansburg and Portersville just before Shady Trail.
Richard Arbuckle, 57, was driving the Indian motorcycle with his passenger Diana Arbuckle, 51, said a spokesman with the Pennsylvania State Police in Lawrence County.
Warren Enscoe, 45, of Portersville was driving the John Deere tractor, state police reported.
The farm tractor that was hauling a bailer was making a left turn into a driveway and “did have a turn signal and flashers on, per witnesses on the scene,” said Chief Charles Peak of the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Department of Lawrence County.
Slippery Rock Emergency Medical Service, Noga Ambulance and STAT MedEvac were also on the scene.
Route 19 was closed for about 45 minutes because of the accident, Peak said.
No citations were issued as of yet, the state police spokesman said.
The driver of the tractor was not injured, Peak said.
The extent of the Arbuckles' injuries was unknown.
“They were not wearing helmets or protective gear,” he said.
