The Butler County Republican Committee has announced its endorsements for the May 17 primary election.

Al Lindsay, committee chairman, said the group voted to endorse or recommend candidates for U.S. Senate, U.S. Congress, governor and lieutenant governor.

While 10 election hopefuls attended the candidate endorsement meeting Saturday to speak for their candidacies, the committee officially is endorsing incumbent U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly for Congress, Dave McCormick for Senate and Dave White for governor.

The committee voted to recommend Jeff Coleman and Chris Fry for lieutenant governor, as neither received the 60% vote required to achieve an endorsement.

All Republican candidates who filed petitions to appear on the GOP primary election ballot were nominated for consideration.
