[naviga:h3]Seven Fields hosts carnival[/naviga:h3]

SEVEN FIELDS — The annual Seven Fields Community Days Carnival, hosted by the borough, continues through Monday at the Towne Park, 390 Castle Creek Drive.

Bartlebaugh Amusements is providing rides, games and food daily starting at 6 p.m. Saturday rides open at 5 p.m.

Live entertainment and fireworks will also be part of the festivities.

[naviga:h3]Italian festival this weekend[/naviga:h3]

The Butler Italian Fest will be Friday through Monday, featuring Italian musical performances, food and drink vendors, and activities for children.

The event is free to the public, and is funded by sponsors and vendor fees.

Various entertainers will take the stage on Main Street, including Italian opera singer Marco Fiorante, Frank Sinatra tribute artist Nick Fiasco, and Dean Martin impersonator Bobby Morelli, among others.

Main Street will be closed during the hours of the festival from Brady Street to Diamond Street.

The festival runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and noon to 6 p.m. Monday.

[naviga:h3]Saxonburg arts fest nears[/naviga:h3]

SAXONBURG — The 32nd annual Saxonburg Festival of the Arts is Sept. 9 and 10, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday in Roebling Park, at Cooper Hall and on Main Street.

Saxonburg Fine Art is dedicating the fine art show at the festival to the memory of Geraldine Freehling, who was a self-taught watercolorist for more than 50 years. She was a member of the Pittsburgh Art Association, Pittsburgh Watercolor Society, Harrisburg Art Association and Associated Artists of Butler County.

Freehling did many commissioned watercolors and received hundreds of awards for her efforts as an artist. She was the first chairperson of the Saxonburg Festival of the arts.

Select paintings of Freehling’s will be on display.

[naviga:h3]Bach Society to rehearse[/naviga:h3]

GROVE CITY — Singers are invited to begin practicing with the Bach Society for its 2017-18 season.

The first practice is 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 11 at Tower Presbyterian Church, 248 S. Broad St.

Concerts are scheduled Dec. 1 and 2 as well as May 4 and 5.

ZELIENOPLE — The Zelienople Historical Society will host “Wine Down Friday,” a wine and cheese tasting featuring Mazza Wines, from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Passavant House lawn and gazebo.

Tickets for the 21 and older event, which includes entertainment by Johnny Burg, are $20 and must be purchased in advance.

Tickets are available at Passavant House, 243 S. Main St., from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays through Fridays.

FRAZER TWP, Allegheny County — A September Moonrise star party sponsored by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh will be at 7:40 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Nicholas E. Wagman Observatory in Deer Lakes Regional Park near Russellton.
