Park-n-ride commuters to get more parking
CRANBERRY TWP — Displaced commuters at the Route 528 park and ride lot have another park and ride option possibly as early asFriday.
Township manager Jerry Andree said Wednesday at the township supervisors meeting that preparations are being made with New Castle Transit to provide 75 parking spaces at North Boundary Park in Allegheny County until early May.
Leonard Lastoria, general manager of the New Castle Transit Authority, said the final logistics are being done on the authority’s side, and he hopes that the service could begin picking up people at the park today.
“We’re hoping people go to use the service. We’re doing everything we can to accommodate the people,” said Lastoria.
The exact start day of the service at the North Boundary Park lot will be posted on both the New Castle Transit and Cranberry Township web pages.
The news of the new temporary bus stop comes two months after the closing of half the spaces of the Route 528 park and ride facility because of expansion work there that will add about 200 spaces.
