New Butler Twp. official takes seat

BUTLER TWP — Township commissioners had their reorganizational meeting Monday, where the newly-elected Ed Natali was sworn in as a commissioner.

The commissioners voted to reappoint Dave Zarnick as commission president, and Sam Zurzolo was reappointed as vice president, after being sworn in for another term on the commission.

U.S. District Judge Marilyn Horan, a former county judge, administered the oath of office to the commission members, as well as Olivia Wiest for the role of tax collector for the township and the officers for the Butler Township Volunteer Fire District.

Zarnick said the commission would handle department assignments at the next meeting.

Zurzolo and Natali thanked the voters for electing them to their seats.

Natali also commented about his predecessor, Fred Vero, who was appointed to the Butler Area Sewer Authority Board at the meeting.

“Fred served the township with integrity, dignity and is joining the sewer authority,” Natali said. “I hope for myself that I can follow in Fred's footsteps and serve with integrity and tenacity.”
