Symphony presents 'American Songbook'
BUTLER TWP — The Butler County Symphony Orchestra will present “The Great American Songbook” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Butler Intermediate High School.
The concert will include selections from George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and “Porgy and Bess,” and compositions from Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, Henry Mancini and Harold Arlen.
Soloists include Drew Petersen, winner at the 2017 American Pianists Awards, Kate Amatuzzo and Patrick Thiem.
The concert follows a week of educational outreach programming in the Butler, Karns City, Mars and Slippery Rock school districts.
A pre-concert lecture will be given by music director and conductor Matthew Kraemer at 6:30 p.m.
