ADAMS TWP — The global knowledge of nine students in the Mars School District will be tested Friday.

The annual Geography Bee final round qualifier will be at 10 a.m. at the Centennial School.

Finalists are eighth-graders Anastasia Bonifate, Justin Lee, Jenna Protho and Dustin Bauer. Seventh-grade finalists are Will Allison, Luke Harvey, Jacob Luedy and Adrian Zugehar. The lone sixth-grade finalist is Paul Olsen.

Social studies students in the fifth through eighth grades prepared for the event by completing a 50-question test based on the physical and cultural geography of the world.

The top 50 students who missed eight questions or fewer took a second round of tests in December. The 10 who missed eight or fewer questions have advanced to the final round Friday.

The finalists on Friday will be asked questions by a teacher until a winner is named.

The winner then will take a written exam that will be mailed to the State Geography Bee. The school district winners will be notified if they qualify for the state contest March 27.

The state winner will advance in May to the three-day National Geography Bee in Washington, DC.

The National Geographic Society sponsors the annual contest.
