George A. Mellish

George A. Mellish, 81, of Springdale, formerly of Butler, passed away Wednesday at UPMC St. Margaret Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born March 31, 1937, in Herman, he was a son of the late John E. and Ida Stutz Mellish.

George had received an award for perfect attendance through his 12 years of school.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was the owner of George Aikens Catering and Restaurant in Oakland, for many years. He also worked as a meat department manager for various grocery stores.

He was a member of Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church in Glade Mills.

He was a member of the Russelton Owls Club.

George was an avid gardener, enjoying his strawberry and tomato plants. He loved his rose and hibiscus flower garden, along with hunting, horses and his Corvette. More than anything, he adored his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are his daughter, Jodie Lynn (Sherman) Kephart of Harmarville; his son, Gregory George (Kellie McCalmont) Mellish of Harwick; four grandchildren, Joseph Mellish, Gregory (Brittany) Mellish Jr., Kenny (Marah) Kephart and Bobby DiDomenico-Mellish; three great-grandchildren, Kya Mellish, Blake Mellish and Jaelyn Mellish; three brothers, Joseph (Nancy) Mellish of Saxonburg, Raymond (Joan) Mellish of Virginia, and Buzzy Mellish of East Butler; three sisters, Bernadette (Thomas) Brockman of Fenelton, Rose Marie (Charles) Trimbur of Butler, and Clara (Richard) Fundark of Butler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Eichenlaub Mellish, whom he married Sept. 2, 1960, and who passed away April 1, 2008; a sister, Mary and her husband, Richard Osche; and a brother, Andrew and his wife, Maryann Mellish.

MELLISH — Friends of George A. Mellish, who died Wednesday, July 4, 2018, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church, 1304 Cruikshank Road, Butler, with the Rev.
