GRADUATES
Dr. Carla Christy recently completed her general surgery residency at Allegheny General Hospital, where she served as executive chief resident for 2006-07.During the award program marking the end of residency, Christy received the Outstanding Chief Resident Award.Christy is currently pursuing advanced training in surgical oncology at Yale University Hospital in New Haven, Conn. She is the first in the Yale Fellowship curriculum to pursue a specialty in breast surgery.Christy graduated in 1994 from Butler High School, in 1998 from Bucknell University and in 2002 from the University of Pittsburgh medical school.———
Laura Vollmer graduated from Duquesne University recently, earning a master of science degree in biology.While at the university, she held a teaching assistantship.The daughter of Ray and Linda Vollmer of Butler, she is a 2001 graduate of Butler High School and a 2005 graduate of Westminster College, where she earned a bachelor's degree.Vollmer has accepted a research position with the Drug Discovery Institute at the University of Pittsburgh.———
Janeen Beatty of Eau Claire and
David West of Butler recently received bachelor's degrees from Franklin University through an educational alliance with Butler County Community College.Both attended BC3 and completed online courses through Franklin University to complete their degree requirements.Beatty received a bachelor's degree in business administration.West received a degree in information technology.
