Succop Nature Park, 185 W. Airport Road, Penn Township, will host Creatures of the Night, a guided evening walk outdoors to meet larger-than-life costumed nocturnal animals, at half-hour intervals, Friday. Registration is necessary at www.aswp.org or by calling 412-963-6100.
The Nautical Nature pontoon boat at Moraine State Park operates cruises on Lake Arthur at 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday from McDanel’s Launch on the North Shore. Call 724-368-9185. The cruises end with the Halloween cruise on Saturday. Reservations are recommended.
Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, will host “Art and Nature: Smart Phone Photography” from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday with registration due Thursday (fee is $10). “Climate Conversations: When the Snow Stuck and a Tick was Just the Sound of a Clock” will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 4 (free, no registration needed). October Moonrise star party, sponsored by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh, will begin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, weather permitting, at the Nicholas E. Wagman Observatory in Deer Lakes Regional Park, near Russellton. A star party at 5:15 p.m. Nov. 10 will be the last scheduled public event for 2018. Call 724-224-2510.
