Drivers in 3-car crash identified

CONNOQUENESSING TWP — On Monday, state police identified the three people involved in a Route 68 accident near Connoquenessing Elementary School last week.

Benjamin P. Gutshall, 34, of Renfrew is charged with disregarding traffic lanes as a result of the April 24 crash. According to police, he drove a Ram 1500 and suffered possible injuries in the noontime crash that slowed traffic for more than an hour.

Police at the scene said Gutshall's truck went into the oncoming lane of traffic, struck a vehicle and flipped. Once upside-down, Gutshall's truck sideswiped a third vehicle.

The first car Gutshall struck was a Mercedes-Benz E320 driven by Andrew H. Sabreen, 66, of Wexford, who suffered serious injuries and was flown from the scene to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

The third vehicle sideswiped by Gutshall was a Ram ProMaster van driven by Leo T. Andring, 63, of Zelienople. Police said he suffered minor injuries.

Gutshall and Andring were transported to Butler Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
