Butler County residents who use Route 8 south toward Pittsburgh are having a longer trip because of a one-vehicle accident this morning that has forced a detour around some downed power lines in Shaler Township.

Repair crews currently are installing a new pole and stringing new wires along the road.

The road is closed in both directions between East Pennview Street and the Glenshaw Crossing.

The road is projected to be completely open by early afternoon, authorities said.
