VA Butler Healthcare suffers weather-related water leaks, damage
BUTLER TWP — The VA Butler Healthcare center recently experienced weather-related water leaks and damage in its Community Living Center, pharmacy staff break room, and auditorium.
Amanda Kurtz, a spokeswoman for the hospital, said ice dams on the roof caused damage to the ceilings and walls in six residents’ rooms within the Community Living Center, reducing its operating bed capacity from 60 to 54.
Meanwhile, frozen groundwater drains in the basement window wells caused damage to a wall in the pharmacy staff break room and a frozen sprinkler pipe damaged the ceiling in the auditorium.
The auditorium is temporarily closed, while the Community Living Center and pharmacy remain open.
