High school musicals in Butler, Beaver and Lawrence counties are eligible for Henry Mancini Musical Theatre Awards affiliated with the National High School Musical Theatre Awards.
In its 25th year, the program, part of Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center since 2014, judges high school musicals and will then present awards May 19. The ceremony will feature performances by the schools nominated for best musical, students nominated for individual awards, and two representatives from each participating school in the finale.

[naviga:h3]Art teacher shows work[/naviga:h3]
Jaison Schafer, who teaches two art courses at Butler County Community College, will have his artwork featured at 7 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Merrick Art Gallery, 1100 5th Ave., New Brighton.
He teaches advanced painting studio as well as photoshop for artists at BC3.
At the Martinis with Monet reception July 11 for the Cranberry Artists Network, he created a live “Monet” painting.
[naviga:h3]Jazz Cabaret set Nov. 28[/naviga:h3]
The Jazz Cabaret on Nov. 28 will feature musicians from across the jazz spectrum.
Vocalist Erin Burkett will lead the group. Virgil Walters will play bass; Max Leake will be on keyboard; and Mike Tomaro is the saxophonist.
The concert is 7 to 9:15 p.m. at Conley’s, 740 Pittsburgh Road, Penn Township.
Cost is $12.50 per person which includes appetizers and parking. There will be a cash bar.
Proceeds from ticket sales go to the St. Barnabas free care fund. Sponsors cover the expenses of the musicians and staging.
