Duane Alan Parson, 68, of Slippery Rock, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was born in Ellwood City, on Sept. 28, 1953, to James Oscar Parson and Joan Elizabeth Weigle Parson.

He graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1971 and attended Butler County Community College.

Duane married Jane Marie Lalim on Dec. 26, 2004. He retired in 2016 after 42 years working as a project manager in the paper product industry. Most recently with First Quality in King of Prussia, Pa.

From a young age, Duane was an avid hunter. He enjoyed spending time at his brother-in law’s deer camp. His favorite season was spring gobbler, when he could hunt with his grandson, Brody. He enjoyed NASCAR and all Pittsburgh sports, including the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. While watching sports, he loved his Keystone Light and often could be heard swearing at the TV. Above all else, he loved and was proud of his daughters and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Jane at home; four daughters, Nici (Mike) Caringola of Valencia, Bridget (Mike) Dunlap of Butler, Trisha Boyer of New Castle, and Lacey (Greg) Bogan of Valencia; his sister, Darla (Joe) Moffett of Prospect; and his grandchildren, Bayleigh, Brody, Victoria, Axton, Tyden and Maizlyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cheryl and brother-in-law, Don Okeson; and son-in-law, Scott Boyer; several aunts and uncles.

PARSON — Family and friends of Duane Alan Parson, who died Sunday, March 13, 2022, will gather from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, with the Rev. James Lewis of Butler presiding.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
