Bullride Mania featured Aug. 4

Dave Martin's Bullride Mania show will charge into the Butler Fair Grounds Arena for the first time.

Dave Martin's visit to the Butler Farm Show will be at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 4. Admission is $4.

Bullride Mania's founder and stock contractor Dave Martin has performed in various shows at the Butler Farm Show and the Butler Fair, but this is the first time Bullride Mania will be performed at the Butler Farm Show.

"It's going to be good to be back at the Butler Farm Show (grounds),"Martin said.

Martin first bought bulls in 1969 as a high school student and started his business, leasing bulls to rodeos on the Eastern seaboard in 1971. The business expanded until he produced his first sanctioned rodeo in 1975 in Hanover, Pa.

"We like to keep the action coming and hit the people right between the eyes with a lot of excitement and chaos with an edge of your seat show," Martin said.

In addition to the bull riding and barrel racing, the show will also feature Shane Kuhn of Citra, Fla., who rides a trained bull and performs trick roping stunts.

Spectators can watch local contestants compete in bull riding events and women's barrel racing.

About 30 Butler County bull riders and 30 barrel racers are signed up to compete, Martin said.

In the past 30 years, Martin twice has won Best Bucking Bull at the International Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City, Okla., produced the high school rodeo for Pennsylvania at the annual state Farm Show that was voted No. 1 in the nation, and provided bulls for nationally televised rodeos.

Bullride Mania was formerly based in Gettysburg, Pa., but has recently moved to the Sundance Arena in Fredonia, Mercer County.
