Lacee Scheerbaum, 17, of Chicora is the 2012 North Washington Rodeo Queen.

She attends Karns City High School where she is on the track and cross country teams and is also involved in Student Council, National Honors Society, Believers in Christ Club, Junior Bank Board, and ACE.

Her church is Faith Fellowship Alliance.

Lacee's mother, De Anna Scheerbaum, was the Queen in 1989.

The 2012 runner-up is Shannon Cobane from Butler.

Heather Francisco, formerly of Chicora, received the Golden Apple Award from the Archdiocese of Washington Catholic Schools on May 17 at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C.The Golden Apple Award is given to individuals who devote their lives to teaching in Catholic schools.Francisco is a second- grade teacher at Father Andrew White School.She is also the assistant principal and leader of the school's faculty.Francisco attends the first holy communion of every student she has prepared to receive the sacrament in different parishes throughout southern Maryland.Francisco is the daughter of Brent and Bernadette Francisco of Chicora.
