Harry F. Sintz, 93, of Butler, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Oct. 28, 1928, in Brackenridge, and was the son of the late Mathias Sintz and the late Bessie Wiles Sintz.

Harry was a graduate of Butler High School. He then went to Waynesburg College and Slippery Rock State Teachers College, where he received his bachelor’s degree in elementary education and master’s degree in education.

Harry worked at Meridian and Lyndora Elementary schools in the Butler Area School District until his retirement on June 10, 1992.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War.

Harry enjoyed reading, model building, gardening and traveling. He was a member of Grace Calvary Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Doris L. (Cottrill) Sintz, whom he married on April 14, 1951; four children, Sandra Anne (Bob) Strunk of Harrisville, Robert James (Linda) Sintz of Butler, Harry Paul (Teresa) Sintz of Butler, and Susan Diane (Dan) Marterella of Boyers; seven grandchildren, Kristie, Carrie, Kurt, Brady, Ashley, Alex and David; nine great- grandchildren, Elizabeth, Katie, Jack, Shae, Avery, Leo, Enzo, Stella and Theodore (and one more on the way); and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Jane and Ruth.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the doctors, nurses and staff at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for all of their care during a difficult couple of years.

SINTZ — Friends of Harry F. Sintz, who died Sunday, March 13, 2022, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Thompson officiating.

Burial will take place in Rose Hill Cemetery.
