Crews working to get Alameda pool open by May 30
BUTLER TWP — Crews are working to repair continuing leaks and to make renovations to get the Alameda Swimming Pool ready to open by May 30.
Butler County parks officials hope to fix some ongoing leaks at the Alameda Swimming Pool while making $1.1 million in renovations at the water park facility.
The additional work would require replacing about 1,060 square feet of concrete to replace a major pipe beneath the pool. Gary Pinkerton, parks and recreation director, said today that the timing to fix the leaks is good because of the other construction taking place.
“We thought that this might be one of the problems where we had leaking at the pool,” he said. “We still anticipate the pool to be open and operational by May 30.”
Pinkerton said leaking problems began a few years after the last major renovation in 1998.
The pipe replacement would cost the county an additional $16,300, going a little over budget with the project’s $1.1 million plan. The county commissioners will vote on the change on Wednesday.
A new dog park, splash pads and other amenities are being added to the water park this summer.
