Cars were ticketed for being parked on West Diamond Street during street cleaning Wednesday. Butler Mayor Tom Donaldson said such ticketing is a common occurrence.

Donaldson said signs are put up on the street to announce street cleaning, but said people aren't always aware of their surroundings.

“It's important to clean the streets, especially in the area of the courthouse and Diamond Street,” he said. “That's an area that a lot of people from out of town see. You don't want it to look bad. You keep the streets cleaned up because if you don't, (debris) finds its way down in the storm sewers and it plugs them up.”
