Samuel J. Runyan
Samuel J. “Sam” Runyan, 74, of Annisville Road, Bruin, Parker Township, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at his home Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 7, 2021.
Samuel was born Jan. 27, 1947, in Kissinger Mills near Rimersburg. He was the son of the late James and Ruth Priester Runyan.
He was a graduate of Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School in Foxburg.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and trips to the casino. Sam always looked forward to vacations at the beach. In his earlier years, Sam was employed at the glass plant in Parker, and retired from Dick McCall Inc. in Petrolia.
He is survived by his wife, Robin D. Whitmer Runyan, whom he married in Fairview on June 5, 1976.
Also surviving is a son, James “Jimmy” Runyan and his wife, Billie, of Shippenville; three brothers, William “Bill” Runyan of Crafton, Gerald “Jerry” Runyan and his wife, Shirley, of Knox, and Raymond “Ray” Runyan and his wife, Nancy, of Franklin, Tenn.; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kristie and Dennis Christie of Parker, Scott and Margaret “Peg” Whitmer of Fairview, and Charlotte Runyan of Callensburg; as well as a number of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, two sisters and two brothers.
RUNYAN — A private visitation and funeral service for Samuel J. “Sam” Runyan, who died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021, will be held at Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, and officiated by longtime family friend, the Rev. Dennis Barger.
Interment will be in Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.
