Firefighters respond to house fire in Slippery Rock
SLIPPERY ROCK — Firefighters early Saturday morning doused a basement blaze on New Castle Street.
Chief Ken Taggart of the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company said the home at 347 New Castle St. was under construction.
He said the cause was electrical, resulting in a small fire in the basement that spread to the first floor.
The estimated damage was $10,000-$20,000. The owner's name was unavailable.
Approximately 20 firefighters responded to the 12:33 a.m. 911 call. The Harrisville and Pine Township volunteer fire departments assisted Slippery Rock.
Crews cleared the scene around 2:30 a.m.
