Expert questions makeup of Penn St. case charity
STATE COLLEGE, Pa — A second top executive of The Second Mile appears to be leaving, and an expert is questioning how the charity founded by Jerry Sandusky was structured and run.
Katherine Genovese is the wife of former chief executive Jack Raykovitz and had been the foundation’s executive vice president. She is no longer listed as a staff member on the charity’s website. Her apparent departure was first reported in newspaper report.
An expert in nonprofit management says Genovese and Raykovitz had unusual control over the operations of such a large organization, and that the charity’s bylaws also gave Sandusky questionable powers.
Genovese and other representatives of The Second Mile did not respond to questions about her status.
