Police keep eye on traffic at Shadrack light show
State police in Butler are advising people going to the Shadrack Christmas Light Show at the Big Butler Fairgrounds on New Castle Road in Franklin Township that long lines of traffic entering the site could result in police temporarily closing the entrance.
Police said the show has caused unexpected traffic delays mostly on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and they are concerned about public safety on Route 422 in the fairground area.
People should be aware of the two- to three-hour wait time to enter the fairgrounds because of traffic backlog. Police said they might have to temporarily close the entrance on Unionville Road at Route 422. The intersection would be shut down until the line of traffic into the show clears, and then it would be reopened, police said.
The show runs through Jan. 3.
Police said the stopping or standing of vehicles will not be permitted and troopers will enforce the Vehicle Code.
Alternative routes to the fairgrounds are available, police said. From the west, people can take Route 528 to Grindel Road to Election House Road to Unionville Road. From the east, motorists can take Dick Road to Old Route 422 to Election House Road to Unionville Road.
