BUTLER TWP — A 10-time shoplifter is accused of stealing video game accessories on four different days at the same store.

Darren R. Halli, 40, of Zelienople was arrested Friday in Harrison Township in Allegheny County. He was wanted on a felony arrest warrant in connection with a series of alleged crimes in February at Target in the Butler Commons shopping plaza.

Police obtained warrants April 15 for Halli and his girlfriend, Brittany R. Zukowski. The 31-year-old Lyndora woman is suspected in one of the alleged thefts.

According to charging documents, the couple took five Nintendo Switch controllers, two portable hard drives for video games consoles and other items totaling $464.82 on Feb. 12.

Authorities said Halli struck Target again on Feb. 19, 24 and 26. During that time he swiped video game merchandise worth a combined $579.92

Police said Halli was caught Feb. 26 with three controllers and two crack pipes. Store surveillance footage captured all four suspected crimes on video.

Halli admitted wrongdoing, according to the charging documents. He also implicated Zukowski in the Feb. 12 incident.

Because of Halli's criminal history, he is charged with four felony counts of retail theft. Police said he has 10 prior shoplifting convictions.

In Pennsylvania, retail theft is normally a summary or misdemeanor offense. But it is upgraded to a third-degree felony — regardless of the stolen property's value — when a suspect has at least two prior convictions for the same crime.

Police also charged him with one count each of conspiracy, a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Zukowski Friday on a felony charge of conspiracy and a misdemeanor charge of retail theft. She is free on $3,000 bail.
