NATRONAHEIGHTS— The Butler 15-and-under travel fast-pitch softball team captured the Natrona Heights Tournament last weekend, defeating Karns City 4-1, Mount Pleasant 12-4, Karns City 8-0, Bullskin 4-2 and Riverview 5-0.
Angie Reddick, Mackenzie O'Donnell, Erin Pennington, Amanda Steinhieser and Morgan McLaughlin were named MVPs.
Reddick struck out 24 batters and allowed just three walks in 20 innings while O'Donnell fanned 10 batters and walked three in 10 innings.
The squad plays this weekend in a Class A tournament in Wheeling, W.Va.

Va. — John Aubrey Sr. of Aubrey's Dubbs Dred fired a first-round score of 69 and is tied with Barry Evans of Berry Hills Country Club for second place in the Club Car/Stonewall Resort Classic in Roanoke, W.Va. Monday.Ryan Sikora of Totteridge Golf Club is leading the two-day event by one stroke with a 4-under-par 68.Joe Boros of Treesdale Golf and Country Club is tied for fifth with a 71, while Rob McClellan of Butler Country Club is tied for eighth (72) and Travis Dickson of Treesdale is tied for 13th (73).The 51 golfers will tee off today in the second round.
CANONSBURG — David Tompkins belted three home runs, a double and drove in seven runs, and Thomas Bruce added a grand slam home run and a single to power the Butler Township 14s to a 26-13 victory over Plum in the final game of the satellite playoff tournament Sunday.Butler Township also defeated Plum 8-7 Friday and Canon-McMillan 18-3 Saturday.In Sunday's game, Spencer Murray added two doubles and a single, Mickey Fennell a single and a triple, Cody West a double and a single and Colin Williamson two singles.Against Canon-McMillan, Williamson had a home run, a triple and a double; Tompkins a home run and two doubles; Dalton Koebler three singles and a double; Chris Cotton a home run and two singles, Bruce a triple and a single and Alex Ziegler two singles.On Friday, Williamson had a single, a double and a triple while Tompkins, Bruce and Murray had two singles each and West added a double and Cotton a single.Butler Township will play in the Zone tournament this weekend in McCandless.
NEW ORLEANS — Jeremy Shockey was traded to the Saints for two draft picks Monday, giving New Orleans a disgruntled star tight end who watched from afar while injured as the New York Giants surged to the Super Bowl title.The Giants will get second- and fifth-round picks in the 2009 draft. The deal must be approved by the league and is contingent on Shockey passing a physical.The deal reunites Shockey with Saints coach Sean Payton, who was the Giants' offensive coordinator in 2002.
