Joseph B. Hufnagel

Joseph B. Hufnagel, 47, of Butler passed away Tuesday.

He was the beloved husband for four years of Valerie Whitehill; the son of the late Joseph Hufnagel and Linda Ferguson Kudamik; the stepson of Paul Kudamik; the grandson of Margaret and the late Charles Hufnagel and the late Erma Ferguson; the loving father of Laura (Alex) Phankhamchit; the stepfather of Mikaela (Dana) Burick and Larissa (Dr. Christopher Haynes) Cunningham; the brother of Tonia (Wayne Ziegler) Montgomery, John (Amy) Hufnagel, Robert (Deborah) Kudamik, Tammy Kudamik; and the grandfather of Aria, Emmanuel and Addison. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Army with seven deployments into war zones: First Gulf War, Operation Desert Storm, one deployment to Afghanistan and two in Iraq. Despite being in an IED explosion in 2007, Joe bravely went back for two more tours of duty. He retired from the Army after 22 years of service, during which he received many commendations.

He was an excellent carpenter, loved the outdoors, enjoyed riding his quad and hunting. He especially loved spending time with his family.

HUFNAGEL — Family of Joseph B. Hufnagel, who died Tuesday, July 11, 2017, will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Schellhaas Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown, where funeral services will be at 8:30 p.m. Burial will be at the Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.Memorial donations may be made to the family for funeral expenses or to the Lighthouse Foundation, P.
