William Earle “Bill” Stirling
William Earle “Bill” Stirling, 83, of Butler passed away Sunday at VNA Hospice.
He was born April 5, 1934, in Butler, to the late William Earle Stirling and Alberta Barnhart Stirling.
Bill retired as a lieutenant of the Butler City Police. He was a member of Masonic Victory Lodge 694, Syria Shriners and Fraternal Order of Police.
Bill enjoyed cars and family was the most important part of his life. He owned and operated Bill Stirling Auto Sales along with his wife of 65 years and family. Bill was known in the Butler Area as “The Used Car Man.” He was also formerly employed by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home.
Bill is survived by his wife Phyllis, whom he married July 25, 1952; his son Thomas (Gerard) Stirling of Cranberry Township; three daughters Debra Stirling of Butler, Patricia (Bernie) Bergbigler of Butler and Sharin (Joe) Dorchak of Bridgeport, W.Va.; eight grandchildren Ian Bergbigler, Ryan Bergbigler, Christie (Jeff) Szura, Courteney Minich and her fiancé, Aaron Taylor, Kelsey Dorchak, Joey Dorchak, Justin (Chelsea) Stirling and Lindsey Kyle; five great-grandchildren Liam Szura, Adelyn Szura, Belle Elizabeth Stirling, Oliviah and Alexis; two brothers Robert (Cheryl) Stirling of Butler and Gary (Ruthie) Stirling of Butler; two sisters Sheila (Bryan) Bell of Grove City and Karen (Gary) Godot of Butler; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his special family friend Dru; and his buddy and dog Carlie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son David William Stirling; and one infant daughter Cheryl.
