CHERRY TWP — A 14-year-old girl was injured Wednesday night when the all-terrain vehicle she was riding crashed in northern Butler County, authorities said.

The girl, whose name was not released, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with unknown injuries. Her condition was not known Thursday.

State police are investigating but an accident report was not immediately available.

The girl was riding with another youth about 10 p.m. on Roenigk Road, emergency crews said, when their ATV crashed and rolled over, coming to rest a short distance off the road.

The 14-year-old was conscious when rescuers found her. The weather prevented a medical helicopter from picking her up, said Marion Township Fire Chief Joe Fitzgerald

A Slippery Rock EMS ambulance took her to the hospital.

The other child was apparently not hurt, Fitzgerald said. The vehicle sustained minor damage.
