Hunter falls out of stand
WEST LIBERTY — A Slippery Rock man who fell from a tree stand on Saturday while bow hunting was flown to a Pittsburgh-area hospital for treatment of multiple injuries.
Emergency responders said the man, who is 35 years old, was hunting with a family member in a wooded area behind 156 Rhoer Road when he lost his balance while in a tree stand and fell at least 20 feet to the ground.
The man suffered injuries to both his ankles and a possible back injury, and was flown from the scene to Allegheny General Hospital by a Stat MedEvac helicopter, said Slippery Rock VFC Chief Ken Taggert.
The man’s name was not released by the fire company, and a hospital spokesman said no information on his condition was available this morning.
