Richard Potochny

Richard Potochny, 76, of Greenock, Pa., died Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Richard was born April 27, 1941, in New York, and was the son of the late John and Inger Olsen Potochny.

He was an elected primary official with Teamster's Local 273, retiring in June of 2000. He was a U.S. Army Senior Captain and served from 1960 to 1972, which included two tours in Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, Julia “Judy” Elizabeth Bryant Potochny; sons, Mark (Dena) Potochny of Madison, Ind., Jim (Christine) Potochny of Alexandria, Va., Michael (Mary Kay) Potochny of Greenock, and John H. Potochny of Madison, Ind; daughters Julie Denise (Joe) Osche of Butler and Esther Michelle (Robert) Marasco of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; grandchildren, Heather, Michael (Alyssa), Julia, Charlotte, Lissy, Joseph, Emma, Samantha, Alex, PK, Tyler, Savannah, Tyler and Krystina; brother, Robert (Jeanie) Potochny of Butler; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Seth.

POTOCHNY — Friends of Richard Potochny, who died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at GILBERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 6028 Smithfield St., Boston, Pa. A service will be held at the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. Thursday. A burial with military honors will follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery in Elizabeth Township.
