Speakers tell of Jeep's start, restoration
Each year the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival has a history speaker series to celebrate the Jeep's history and heritage in Butler.
This year's presentations will be in the History Exhibit Building.
Topics range from the conception of the Bantam Jeep, how Jeeps were used during World War II, vehicle restoration projects, and the 70th anniversary of D-Day.
• 10 a.m.: Butler's Bantam Jeep historian Lee Bortmas presents Butler's Proud Moment in History: The Bantam Jeep. He will discuss the conception, invention, and development of the world's first Jeep.Noon: Author and World War II historian David. Hustler will talk about the Vietnam War including weapons, uniforms, and how Jeeps were used during the war.• 1 p.m.: Jeep historian Julius Lorentzson will share photographs and stories about his May 24 to June 10 trip to the 70th anniversary celebration of D-Day.• 2 p.m.: A Simpson Family Jeeps representative will talk about restoration: Enjoying the Journey as much as the Destination.
