Karns City sophomore Annie Hegedus broke the school record in the girls triple jump with a distance of 34 feet, 9.5 inches in Wednesday's win over Cranberry.

The previous mark was 34-9.25.

BUTLER TWP — The Butler High Aquaettes — a synchronized swimming group — will perform their show “Day and Night” today and Saturday in the high school pool.Show times are 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be on sale at the door, $5 for adults, $4 for students.The show will consist of 20 numbers or routines from various levels of Aquaettes.

PITTSBURGH — Freeport golfer Audrey Clawson and Seneca Valley girls lacrosse player Misha Demchuk are among 28 students receiving Western Pennsylvania Positive High School Athlete Awards Saturday.Each of the 28 honorees represents a different sport and were selected from more than 500 nominations representing 110 Western Pa. high schools.They will receive their awards at 12:30 p.m. at the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh. Former Steelers receiver Hines Ward will make the presentations.Criteria for the award include excellence on the field, an optimistic attitude, teammate encouragement, servant leadership, heart for others, ability to admit imperfections, giving 100 percent all the time and realizing the team is more important than the individual.
