In Freeport School District, two challengers, John Haven and Richard Hill, both of Buffalo Township, were among the four candidates who received enough votes to apparently win seats according to unofficial results from Butler and Armstrong counties.

Incumbents Dan Lucovich and Christine Davies also appear to have won, but incumbent William Gaiser, the only candidate who did not cross-file, appearing only on the Democratic ballot, may have been unseated.

Hill, the Freeport borough treasurer, won the most cumulative Democratic votes with 361.

“I'm very honored by that,” Hill said. “I'm very humbled.”

Davies was second with 349; followed by Haven, chairman of the Buffalo board of supervisors, with 327; Lucovich at 268; and Gaiser with 266.

The unofficial results do not necessarily include all absentee ballots.

If the final tally has Gaiser remaining in fifth, there will be no contested race for any school board seats in the fall.

In Butler County, Davies won the most votes on the Democratic ballot with 199, Hill was second at 176, followed by Haven with 169, Lucovich at 162 and Gaiser with 107. There were 3 write-in votes.

Gaiser fared better in Armstrong County, where Hill won the most Democratic votes with 185, followed by Gaiser with 159, Haven followed with 158, Davies had 150 and Lucovich received 106. There were 15 write-ins.
