Hamilton, Mineo get PSAC awards

SLIPPERY ROCK — Junior pitcher Ricky Mineo and senior catcher Connor Hamilton were named as two of the PSAC’s four baseball athletes of the week, both representing the league’s Western Division.

In a six-inning outing, Mineo fanned 17 of the 18 batters he faced Sunday, setting a school record for strikeouts in a game.

Hamilton hit .636 (7-11) over the weekend. He notched eight runs, three homers, and nine RBI. He opened the season by blasting a pair of home runs in a 10-0 win over Davis & Elkins.

Mars grad Cimini honored by PAC

NEW WILMINGTON — Mars graduate Stephanie Cimini has been named Presidents’ Athletic Conference Midfielder of the Week in women’s lacrosse. She plays for Westminster.

Cimini tallied four goals, nine ground balls, eight draw controls and forced seven turnovers in a 15-7 win over Heidelberg.

Moniteau’s Rottman shines for Thiel

GREENVILLE — Moniteau graduate Abby Rottman had a double, single and two RBI for Thiel College in the Tomcats’ 10-0 win over Hilbert.

Karns City grad Dunn awarded

PITTSBURGH — Karns City graduate Mackenzie Dunn, a pitcher/designated hitter for Chatham, has been named Presidents’ Atletic Conference Softball Player of the Week.

Dunn collected 13 hits in 30 at bats, including a double, three triples, a home run, eight RBI and 11 runs scored.

SRU’s Anderson gets pitching plaudits

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University sophomore Kelsi Anderson was named PSAC West Softball Pitcher of trhe Week, winning both of her starts.

Anderson struck out nine in seven shutout nnings, scattering eight hits against Glenville State. She then allowed Glenville one earned run in six innings of her next start, striking out six.
