[naviga:h3]‘Art of Drink’ has reception[/naviga:h3]

The “Art of the Drink” will have a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. the last day of the exhibit, Nov. 3, at The Butler Art Center.

This juried show encompasses two exhibits: “Beer Label Inspired Artwork” and “Handcrafted Drinking Vessels.” Beer tastings are planned. Music will be provided by the Harmony Hot Haus band.

The Art Center, 344 S. Main St., is open regularly from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and from noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Admission is free. Call 724-283-6922.

[naviga:h3]Halloween hosted for kids[/naviga:h3]

The Halloween Hunt on Main Street in Butler will be Saturday. Children ages 2 to 10 will be able to dress up in Halloween costumes and collect candy and other treats from participating businesses on Main Street.

The event, which will be hosted by Butler Downtown, will begin at The Art Center of Butler, 344 S. Main St.

Children will be given a bag to collect their treats and will be able to participate in a crafts event.

Start times for the hunt run every half-hour from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

It will end at Butler Public Library, 218 N. McKean St., where story time and refreshments will be available. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Registration is required, with limited spots available. It is $5 per child, and participants can be registered online at www.butlerdowntown.org.

[naviga:h3]College stages ‘Music Man’[/naviga:h3]

GROVE CITY — The Grove City College theater program will stage “The Music Man” at 7:30 p.m. nightly from Nov. 8 to 11 in Ketler Auditorium of the Pew Fine Arts Center.

The Tony Award-winning musical tells the tale of a con man’s redemption in River City, Iowa, and features the well-known songs “Ya Got Trouble,” “Til There Was You,” and “76 Trombones.”

[naviga:h3]Community band to play[/naviga:h3]

HARRISVILLE — The Harrisville Community Band will present its annual fall concert at 7 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Harrisville Fire Hall, 313 E. Mercer St.

In its 52nd year, the band provides free family entertainment playing a variety of musical styles. The band members range in age from teenagers to senior citizens from many local communities.

Selections will include “Flight of Valor,” “Carrolton March,” “Precious Lord Take My Hand,” and such seasonal favorites as “The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year” and “We Wish You A Merry Christmas.”

Refreshments will be available by donation to support the Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department.

[naviga:h3]Comedy Night benefits library[/naviga:h3]

ELLWOOD CITY — A Comedy Night to benefit the Zelienople Public Library will be Nov. 18 at the Connoquenessing Country Club, 1512 Mercer Road.

Pittsburgh sportswriter Gene Collier will be joined by his son Sean Collier and comedian Collin Chamberlin.

Tickets are $25 and are available at the Zelienople Public Library or online at eventbrite.com.

The event is over-21 only. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show begins at 8 p.m.
