Edwin Amrhein Jr.
Edwin Gerard Amrhein Jr., 63, of Portersville and formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away in Gibsonia on Friday, March 4, 2022.
He was born in Pittsburgh on July 3, 1958, to Edwin Gerard Amrhein Sr. and Patricia Joan Baldwin Amrhein.
He graduated from South Hills High School in 1976.
Edwin retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in 2018. He was part of the “Bridge Crew,” where he enjoyed the thrill of height and adventure. He had a strong work ethic. He loved working outside in the sun. He enjoyed carpentry and built his own log home. He enjoyed the outdoors and took pride in the fact he walked 10 miles a day. Among his many outdoor adventures, he enjoyed kayaking and taking his grandchildren to the park.
He was always a stylish dresser with a sharp wit and refined sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife, Janet, of New Castle; his son, Edwin G. III (Lydia) of Slippery Rock; his daughter, Nina Marie (Karl) Wangler of New Castle; his sisters, Patricia (Paul) Leger of Bridgeville and Linda Nowicki of Mentor on the Lake, Ohio; his brother, Timothy (Sue) Amrhein of Robinson Township; four grandchildren, Aria Marie and Aeden Ward Wangler, and Adah Jane McAllister and Isilee Anne Whitesides.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
AMRHEIN ― There will be private services at a later time for Edwin Gerard Amrhein Jr., who died Friday, March 4, 2022.
