CONNOQUENESSING — A detached garage in the 200 block of Main Street suffered heavy fire damage when a burn pile got out of hand Friday afternoon.

No one was injured, but homeowner Frances Henry lost a portion of the garage and a good bit of her lawn and gardening apparel, including bird baths, lawn ornaments, mulch and landscaping posts.

Connoquenessing Assistant Fire Chief Glenn Goehring said the fire began about 1:45 p.m. when homeowner Henry was using the afternoon's sunny weather to clear debris in her backyard.

"She said she had a small fire going," Goehring said.
