BlueSox beat Jammers

Matt Hansen drove in the tying run and Jamie Switalski knocked in the eventual winning run in the top of the ninth inning as Butler rallied for a 6-5 win at Jamestown Friday night.

Seneca Valley graduate Zach Spangler worked a perfect bottom of the ninth for his 12th save, which leads the Prospect League.

The BlueSox (5-2 second half, 18-16 overall) led 3-0 after a two-run sixth inning.

But the Jammers scored two times in the bottom of the sixth and then took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the seventh on a three-run home run by Paxton De La Garza.

Butler, though, rallied in the ninth for the victory. Cody Jackson got the win for the BlueSox, pitching a perfect eighth.

Hansen was 2-for-4 with two RBI and raised his average to .325 this season.

Switalkski was 3-for-5 and also drove in two for the BlueSox, who banged out 13 hits.

Every player in the Butler lineup had at least one hit. Butler will hit the road again to take on West Virginia Saturday and Sunday and then make another trip to Jamestown Tuesday before returning to Kelly Automotive Park Wednesday to host Jamestown.
