Marilyn Hilliard, 73, of Butler earned six medals at the 25th annual Pennsylvania Senior Games held recently at Shippensburg University.

Hilliard won gold medals in the 200 and 400 meter runs and foul shooting, silver medals in hot shot shooting in basketball and in the softball throw. She won a bronze medal in the football throw.

All four Eagle County League baseball first-round playoff games were postponed Tuesday because of lightning.Game 2 of each best-of-three series will be played at 6 p.m. today. Saxonburg holds a 1-0 series lead on Wexford with the game site for the second game to be determined today.Zelienople has a 1-0 lead on Natrona Heights as they play at Highlands High School. Cranberry has a 1-0 lead on Freeport as they play at Cranberry Township Park and Mars I has a 1-0 lead on Mars II as they play at Marburger Field.

The Saxonburg American Legion baseball game with State College was suspended by rain at the end of the fifth inning with State College leading 6-2.The game will resume in the top of the sixth at noon today.If Saxonburg rallies to win, it will play Bellefonte at 7 p.m. today. If it loses, it will play the winner of the DuBois-St. Michael's contest at 4 p.m.

John Aubrey Sr., owner of Aubrey Dubbs Dred in Butler, fired a 72-69 for a 141 to place second at the Sewickley Heights Invitational Tuesday.Aubrey, tuning up for his appearance in the Senior U.S. Open later this week, finished one stroke off the pace set by the winner, Robert McClellan of Olde Stonewall Golf Club.McClellan shot a 69 in the first round and a 71 Tuesday to hold off Aubrey.

NEW YORK - Barring any last-minute snags, Larry Brown was about to join the long list of distinguished basketball coaches - including Joe Lapchick, Red Holzman, Pat Riley and Lenny Wilkens - who have guided the NBA's New York Knicks.The hiring was all but complete, with Brown's agent and Knicks executives planning to work out the final few details of a contract today to make the 64-year-old the coach of his hometown team.Brown, raised in Brooklyn, will likely be formally introduced as the franchise's 22nd coach at a news conference Thursday.
