Mars grad Brueckner honored by PSACERIE — Mars graduate and Gannon University senior Mani Brueckner has received a fall PSAC Top 10 award for academic and athletic excellence.Brueckner is carrying a 3.74 grade point average and set Gannon women's soccer records of 18 goals and 44 points in a season. She is also the Lady Knights' career leader with 137 points and 45 assists.Brueckner has been named PSAC Athlete and NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Player of the Year three times.
49ers hire Kelly as head coachSANTA CLARA, Calif. — The San Francisco 49ers hired Chip Kelly as their coach Thursday, finding a focused, football-first leader CEO Jed York is counting on to turn the once-proud franchise back into a contender.York announced the move on Twitter and so did the team on its Twitter account.Kelly won’t be introduced in a news conference until next week based on schedules.The former Eagles coach will replace fired coach Jim Tomsula. Kelly emerged as the favorite among several experienced candidates that included former Raiders, Broncos and Redskins coach Mike Shanahan, ex-Giants coach Tom Coughlin and former Raiders coach Hue Jackson, who was hired Wednesday to coach the Cleveland Browns.
Giants’ McAdoo now head coachEAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Ben McAdoo has been named the New York Giants coach.The Giants confirmed the hiring a little more than a week after Tom Coughlin stepped down after 12 seasons.The 38-year-old McAdoo has been the Giants offensive coordinator the past two seasons. He was to be formally introduced at a news conference this morning.
